Terms of Service
Last updated 9 August 2026
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and Kode Foundry ("we", "us") and cover the SplitSpace app and this website. Using SplitSpace means you accept them. If you don't, don't use it.
2. Your account
You need an account, created with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for the accuracy of what you enter. You must be at least 13 years old.
3. Houses and shared content
SplitSpace is a shared product. Anything you add to a house — expenses, chores, shopping items, the house photo, your display name — is visible to every member of that house. Anyone with a house's invite code can join it, so treat the code as you would a door key and regenerate it if it gets out.
Admins can remove members and delete a house along with everything in it. Leaving a house does not delete the expenses you were part of, because they remain part of other members' records.
4. What SplitSpace is not
SplitSpace records what people owe each other. It does not move money, hold funds, process payments between members, or provide financial, tax or legal advice. It is a shared ledger you all agree to keep. Settling up happens between you, however you normally do it.
We do our best to make the arithmetic exact — splits always add back to the total — but you are responsible for checking that what you entered reflects what actually happened.
5. SplitSpace Pro
Per household, not per person
Pro attaches to a house. One member buys it and every member of that household gets the Pro features for as long as it is active. A single purchase unlocks one household; it cannot be applied to separate households at the same time.
Billing
- Plans: $4.99 per month, $29.99 per year, or $69.99 once for lifetime access. Prices are in USD before local tax and may differ by App Store storefront.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- The lifetime purchase is a one-off. There is nothing to cancel.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are Apple's to give, through reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them ourselves. If a purchase is refunded, Pro ends for that household.
If a member leaves
Pro belongs to the house, so it continues even if the person who bought it leaves. They keep control of the underlying subscription through their Apple ID, and can cancel it — at which point the house returns to the free plan at the end of the paid period.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use SplitSpace for anything unlawful, or to harass anyone.
- Attempt to access houses or accounts that are not yours.
- Probe, disrupt or overload the service, or work around App Check or our security rules.
- Resell access, or share one Pro purchase across unrelated households.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that do these things.
7. Your content
What you put into SplitSpace stays yours. You grant us only the licence needed to store it, sync it, and show it to the other members of your houses — that is, to run the service. We do not sell it and we do not use it to advertise to you.
8. Availability
We aim to keep SplitSpace running, but it is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the app entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for disputes between housemates about money. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
10. Ending it
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app (⋯ menu → Account → Delete account). We may terminate access if you materially breach these terms.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. The date above shows when. For material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect, and continuing to use SplitSpace afterwards means you accept them.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
13. Contact
These terms describe how SplitSpace actually works, but they are not legal advice. Fill in the jurisdiction and have a solicitor review before launch.
