Getting your house set up

Invite someone

House settings → Share invite. That sends a message with your six-character code. They tap "Join a house" and enter it. If a code gets out, "Generate a new code" kills the old one immediately.

Nobody is in my house yet

A house works alone, but it is more useful with the people you live with in it. Expenses split between whoever is a member at the time you add them.

Money

The split doesn't add up

Percentages must total exactly 100, and custom amounts must total exactly the expense. SplitSpace tells you how far off you are rather than quietly rounding, so nobody silently pays more than they agreed.

Balances look wrong

Balances are recalculated from the expense list every time, so they cannot drift. If a number surprises you, open Expenses — each row shows what that one expense did to your balance. Note that expenses recorded in a different currency to the house are left out rather than converted at an invented rate.

Settling up

The Home tab suggests the fewest payments that clear everyone. SplitSpace doesn't move money — pay each other however you normally do, then record it.

Chores

Set a rotation once and turns pass down the list in order. Completing a chore schedules the next one from its due date, not from the moment you tapped, so doing Tuesday's bins on Thursday keeps bin day on Tuesday. A chore missed for weeks catches up to the next future date instead of reappearing dozens of times.

Subscriptions

I paid but my housemates don't have Pro

Pro unlocks the house you were in when you bought it. If you have more than one house, open the one you want covered and use "Apply my existing purchase" on the Pro screen.

I'm being asked to pay again

Tap Restore on the Pro screen. If it still asks, check you are signed in to the same Apple ID that made the purchase, then email us.

Cancelling

Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SplitSpace. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your account

Deleting it

⋯ menu → Account → Delete account. Permanent, and immediate. It removes your profile and any house where you are the only member; shared houses stay with your housemates. If you are the only admin of a shared house, make someone else an admin first or the deletion is blocked — that stops a house being orphaned with nobody able to manage it.

Signing in on a new phone

Use the same method you signed up with and everything is there. Your session lasts indefinitely, so you should not need to sign in again on a phone you already use.
